On Sunday, Huda Beauty teased their upcoming line, Huda Easy Bake, but the brand probably hasn't had quite the response they imagined.
In the teaser shots, Huda Kattan appears to be whipping up a storm in the kitchen as she advertises her new line of themed products but beauty fans noticed a striking similarity to another brand. Launching July 2, the products include 8 shades of Easy Bake Setting Powder and Pound Cake, for under-eye baking as well as the t-zone, mouth corners and chin.
While some followers commented on her Instagram messages of excitement and congratulations, others were disappointed it appeared to take the same approach as Beauty Bakerie, a smaller black-owned American brand, known for their everlasting Lip Whips that rival Lip Kit by Kylie as well as BROWnies and Flour Setting Powder.
yanamims wrote: "Might as well call it Huda Bakerie since you stole @beautybakeriemakeup 's whole concept 🙄"
swaringen_squared chimed in: "Cool, so glad I don't support this brand anyways. Like seriously, rip off @beautybakeriemakeupand pretend you're original? Miss us with that crap."
While _jazzyjmua added: "Huda I am a fan of your makeup, however this is so disrespectful to the @beautybakeriemakeup line. Use your platform to support smaller brands like them and give credit to who it's due."
Makeup fans might have been annoyed but for Beauty Bakerie, there's enough room for everyone. They posted an image which read, "Hey Sweets, Everyone's invited to the baking party, even Huda."
Adding in their caption, "To everyone "@" us from her page: always know there's enough cake for everyone🍰 Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That's why we're better not bitter 🍧👩🏾🍳🍨🍭👨🏼🍳🍪🍩👩🏻🍳 #sweetlife"
That's the way to do it!
