Tips on base makeup application
PopSugar Middle East’s Ultimate Guide to Acing Your Base Makeup

Your foundation is the most important part of any makeup look. In fact, your base is what holds your entire look together, and it's essential that you first achieve your desired finish before moving on to adding elements like eyeshadow and lipstick.
To help with the process, we asked Global Senior Makeup Artist of MAC Cosmetics India, Sonic Sarwate to share his expert tips on how to slay every kind of base.
Before we get into the magic that is base, Sarwate has a few pointers on application:
Skin Prep:
"It is very important to prep your skin with the right cleanser and moisturizer. Start with a cleanser that is suitable for your skin type, followed by a moisturizer that hydrates your skin well."
Prime Time:
"Apply a good primer, followed by the right shade of foundation that is closest to your skin color. Always try your foundation on your face rather than on your hands, as it helps you pick the perfect shade for your skin. Additionally, choose the right formula based on your skin type and the type of coverage you need.
Brush Power:
"When it comes to brushes, anything that is flat and firm helps to blend, and build coverage. Round as well as fluffy brushes are ideal for blending and creating sheer coverage. Sponges can be used for applying foundation and other types skincare. In terms of application, follow the principle of 'less is more', this means applying a slight amount of foundation and then adding as needed."
