The World's Favorite Nanny is Flying to the Middle East
No, not Supernanny, Jo Frost… Mary Poppins the Musical is finally winging its way to the region and fans of the stage show and movie will get to see it May 1-18.
Tickets for the Dubai Opera production will go on sale November 28 so make a note in your calendar before the Disney spectacular sells out. It tells the story of the child minder who arrives on Cherry Tree Lane with her famous bottomless carpet bag and umbrella which enables her fly.
The story is set in Edwardian London, where the delightful nanny takes care of Jane and Michael Banks, teaching them the true values of a happy life and leaving a lasting positive impression on the family. Those who know Mary Poppins well will look forward to songs such as Supercalifragilistic and A Spoon Full of Sugar.
"It's hard to believe that it is already 12 years since Mary Poppins first landed on the London stage," Producer Cameron Mackintosh said. "My goodness……time flies even faster than our beloved Nanny! I'm delighted to be bringing her to Dubai for the very first time, after spreading her magic around the world.
"Since we originally staged the production we have found even more magical ways to stage this timeless tale and I'm sure you will find our new Mary practically perfect in every way."
That's not all from the GCC's super live stage venue - the Dubai Opera is currently hosting Les Miserables and will stage Cats and West Side Story. Don't forget, there are also some great places to grab a bite nearby!
