Since taking office in January of this year, US president Donald Trump has been living alone in the White House, while his wife and 11-year-old son, Barron, remained at their apartment in New York, allowing Barron to finish the school year at home.
It's an unprecedented move for the First Lady to live apart from her husband: in fact, no First Lady in modern history has lived anywhere but in the White House.
Barron's school year in New York has recently come to an end, though, and he and his mother finally moved into the White House. Landing in Marine One on the South Lawn, Donald, Melania, and Barron were photographed walking toward the White House on Sunday afternoon. Barron wore a shirt that read "expert" and carried a fidget spinner.
Shortly after their arrival, Melania posted a photo of the Washington Monument. "Looking forward to the memories we'll make in our new home! #Movingday" she wrote.
Though Melania and Barron have both kept relatively low profiles since Trump's inauguration, they're expected to make more public appearances now that they've moved to Washington.
Barron is expected to attend St. Andrews school in the fall, which another departure from the traditions of past First families. Sasha and Malia Obama, Chelsea Clinton, and Amy Carter all attended Washington's Sidwell Friends school.
