Serena William gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian just four months ago, but the tennis superstar is set to return to the courts this month and her first match will be right in Abu Dhabi.
The former world number one and 23-time Grand Slam winner has not played since winning the Australian Open last January, but she pledged to get back on the courts ASAP after welcoming her daughter with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.
The Mubadala exhibition event, which will be held in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, will see Serena playing against Latvian Ostapenko, who is currently ranked 7th in the world.
In addition to being Serena's return to the court, the match will also mark another historic occasion: it'll be the first match to be played between women since the tournament was launched in 2009. Serena's opponent spoke about the momentous match, saying, "It is a huge honor to be part of that history."
The event runs from 28-30 in Abu Dhabi, and many speculate that Serena's appearance means she will return to Australia next month to defend her title.
