Tom Cruise Abu Dhabi 2018

Is Tom Cruise Filming the Next Mission Impossible in Abu Dhabi? It Certainly Looks Like It

Rumor has it that a Hollywood superstar is in Abu Dhabi to film Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

Tom Cruise, who has been in the UAE for the past two weeks, Tweeted on Wednesday close to 1 a.m.: "Thank you to everyone in Abu Dhabi for the amazing help and cooperation. Our filming here continues to be a wonderful experience."

The actor doesn't clarify what exactly he's filming but it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination to assume he's shooting parts of his famous film franchise in the region. After all, no one is likely to forget that time Cruise scaled the Burj Khalifa for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (M14) in 2010. Seems to us the actor's got a soft spot for the UAE.

Another picture of Cruise has surfaced on the Twitter account of Director General of the Dubai Government Media Office Ahmad Al Shaikh. He shared a snap of the duo, saying: "I was happy to host the global superstar Tom Cruise at my house in Dubai. Tom was the first actor to bring a big motion picture to be filmed in the UAE. We talked about the best ways of making the UAE a hotspot and a magnet for global filmmaking."

A photo of Cruise posing with a helicopter landing officer also made the rounds on February 23. In the picture, the actor is standing in front of a Falcon Aviation helicopter.

With rules on movie theaters in Saudi Arabia recently relaxing, it's expected we'll have many more blockbusters coming out of the Middle East.

Actor, John Travolta recently expressed how the new rules will see more talent emerge from the region in art and entertainment, as well as fund the better quality of productions.

"Movie theaters were shut down in the 1980′s during a wave of ultraconservatism in the country," the Associated Press reported about KSA, and once they open again in March 2018, 2,000 screens in over 300 cinemas are expected to be around by 2030.
