Just five days ago he shared with his fans on Instagram that he'd suddenly lost his mother, but after twice postponing his Dubai concert, the music legend still made it to the UAE on Friday.
"So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning. I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock," he caption a photo of the pair. "Travel safe Mum. Thank-you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton."
Performing tracks such as "Rocket Man", "Candle in the Wind", 'I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" and "Tiny Dancer", Elton blew the crowd away with his classic and catchy hits at the Autism Rocks Arena, even receiving standing ovations for the likes of "I'm Still Standing" and "Crocodile Rock."
But the 72-year-old's 2 hour and 10 minute-long set, supported by Indie-Folk trio Vandalye, had the audience stunned after he paid tribute to his mother with his track "Your Song."
Telling the 8,000 people who came to watch him that she "did a lot for him in his early years" he sang the suitable lyrics alongside his piano, which many filmed and later posted on social media.
