Taylor Swift and Katy Perry
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry's friendship has become something of a pop culture saga. The singers became pals around 2008 and shared a series of lovey-dovey tweets and an onstage duet in the years that followed, but things went awry sometime in 2013 (reportedly due to both stars having dated John Mayer).
Things came to a head in August 2014 when, during an interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor alluded to having beef with a famous singer — and that the rift inspired her new hit "Bad Blood." Shortly after that came Katy's now-infamous "Regina George in sheep's clothing" tweet, plus a rebuttal interview in which she said, "If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it."
In May 2015, Taylor's "Bad Blood" video premiered, featuring members of her high-profile friend group and thinly-veiled digs at Katy. A few months later, Katy took Nicki Minaj's side when the rapper got embroiled in a social media skirmish with Taylor regarding the MTV VMA nominations. While the two still seem to be on the outs (and we never did get that diss track from Katy), Katy did reportedly extend an olive branch back in February 2016 by inviting Taylor to her pre-Grammys party.
