Is Christian Louboutin your favorite designer? Well, his latest accessory may not be what you're expecting unless you're a superfan. The man behind the red sole has released the Mexicaba tote, in a nod toward his adoration for Mexico.
"You only need to visit my house and see all the stuff I've brought back over the years to know I really love the diversity of Mexican design," he says. "The heritage is so rich, from the indigenous side, to the arrival of the Spanish, to the melange when these come together. I love the embroideries, the colors, the pagan motifs of wild animals that are a little naive, and all the images of death, taken in such a light way, it isn't scary anymore."
The bright bag isn't like anything you've seen before from Mr Louboutin and he teamed up with Taller Maya (part of Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya), which helps those in the Yucatan Peninsula "preserve their unique craft skills" and stay economically empowered.
Each bag sold will benefit the foundation and artisans in the country. See the gallery for more of the beautiful embroidery depicting Day of the Dead ghosts.
