Emaar Malls Acquires 51% of Online Shopping Brand Namshi

The Way You Shop Is Going to Change Big Time as a Malls Giant Acquires the Majority of Namshi

With the biggest mall on the world, everyone knows shopping is much more fun in Dubai. So the announcement that a Dubai malls giant has teamed up with Namshi will come as great news for those who can't get enough of retail therapy.

Emaar Malls – owners of the Dubai Mall, Dubai Marina Mall and Gold & Diamond Park - has acquired the majority (51 percent) of the online shopping platform, a website which delivers same day in the UAE, express to Saudi Arabia and also to homes in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.

While they haven't specifically said they'll be venturing into malls, the 5-year-old company did say in a statement that questions about their shopping outlets were among the most frequently asked on Facebook. In the open letter, "Faraz, Hosam, Hisham, & the Namshi team" added that prices should get better too.

"With any luck you won't be hearing from us any time soon; instead, we hope you'll notice our assortment, pricing, and service improve bit by bit, day by day, just as always," the statement reads.

It's no wonder Emaar Malls is so keen to work with them; in 2016 their net revenue was $150million.

We can't wait to see what the future holds!
