Following last summer's announcement that the brand's 22nd edition was launching, Vogue Arabia's first cover star has finally been revealed. Supermodel, Gigi Hadid, appears on the front and back of the magazine (printed in both English and Arabic), in stunning black and white shots by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
The 21-year-old wears a custom-made embellished headdress by Brandon Maxwell and her appearance is every bit as stylish as you would expect. Gigi – whose father is Palestinian – makes no secret of her love for the region so she makes a great choice for the publication's inaugural cover.
"Vogue Arabia is a magazine with the authority and insight needed to capture the creativity of a distinctive, evolving, and often misrepresented part of the world," says Vogue Arabia's Editor-in-Chief, Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz. "The collage of countries across the Arab world are long-deserving of a place in fashion history and there's no better first 'face' to lead the charge for Vogue Arabia than Gigi — a model who defines tomorrow's entrepreneurial and dynamic generation."
This year marks the 125th anniversary of Vogue, so an edition that caters to fashion-savvy women in the region is much-welcomed. Check out the gallery for a glimpse inside the first issue, released March 5th!
