Though TOMS is best known for their slip-on canvas shoes, the brand has expanded in recent years and now includes bags, clothing, and even eyeglasses. Across all styles and arenas, TOMS maintains its charitable reputation by sticking to their original one for one motto: for each pair of shoes sold, the company donates shoes to a child in need; each tote bag purchased helps to provide a safe birth for a mother and baby; every pair of glasses sold helps restore the sight of a person with limited access to medical care.
The TOMS commitment continues with a new line announced today, in which the brand will collaborate with the Malala Fund on a scarf. 100 percent of the net proceeds (about $10-$15 per scarf) will go to support girls' empowerment through education, and TOMS will donate a minimum of $10,000. The stylish scarves, which retail for $48, will be printed with a quote from 18-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.
In a statement made to the Today Show in the US, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie said: "All of us at TOMS are honored to be able to partner with the Malala Fund and help provide education to girls around the world."
