Dame Margaret Greville has become famous for bequeathing all of her jewellery to the then Queen Elizabeth upon her passing in 1942. Two diamond ivy leave clips had been created separately by Cartier - one before 1930 and the other in 1937 - and they were given by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to their daughter Princess Elizabeth for her 21st birthday. As a princess she often wore them separately — with one on a lapel and the other on a hat. As Queen, she often wears them together.
