The Arab Women Sports Tournament takes place February 2-12, with Saudi Arabia competing in a record number of games this year.

Now, the annual gathering (consisting of nine Olympic sports) is in full swing, the world is getting to see just how talented many women are in various countries around the region.

So far, Bahrain has clinched the 10m Air Pistol gold medals, beating off the UAE, Oman, Iraq and Algeria in the competition. There's no telling whether Saudi Arabia's increased presence at the event will have a huge impact yet.

"Seeing Saudi sportswomen participating underscores the dedication and commitment of all sporting organizations across the Arab world and the importance of developing female athletes in all competitions," HE Nada Askar Al Naqbi, Deputy Chairperson of AWST Supreme Organising Committee, Head of AWST Executive Committee and Director General of SWSF, previously said about KSA upping their participation. "This is a great stride forwards in bridging the gap between Arab competitors and their peers from around the world, particularly bearing in mind that all of the AWST sports are featured in the Olympics.

"In the past, Saudi Arabia has limited is participation to show-jumping, but this year will see it taking part in five events, which reflects the Saudi government's goal to develop women in sports, and encourage promising talented female athletes to reach their full potential."

Aside from shooting, other sports such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis and show-jumping will make you super proud of the Middle East's female talent.
