Be the better version of yourself.........Join #thewarriormovementPosted by Desert Warrior Challenge on Wednesday, August 10, 2016
There's only a couple of months until outdoor fitness season begins, with a range of events including Tough Mudder and Spartan Race coming back for another year. But kicking off the festivities is the GMC Desert Warrior Challenge, an event that encourages participants to be the best version of themselves.
On October 21, those wanting to test their limits - both physically and mentally - will take to Al Rawia Training Field in Dubai for a range of courses to suit all. Individuals and groups participating in the past have ran, crawled, jumped, carried, climbed and slid their way to the finish line for either the Mini Warrior race for kids (1-2km for those aged six to 15), the Fearless Warrior (5km) or the famous Ultimate Warrior race (10km). But 2016 is introducing something never seen before in the Middle East - the Extreme Desert Warrior race. Open to those who are at least 16 years old, the 20km race has a whopping 30 obstacles in total.
So what should you expect? The Quarter Pipe, Cargo Net, Boot Camp circuit and Monkey Business rings and bars are all included. Teams will also be encouraged to work together to complete obstacles including Stacks On, Twin Peaks, Bell Climb and the Brain Freeze challenge which ranks high on the 'Inner Warrior' strength scale.

"This year we have decided to take the challenge to a whole new level by introducing the Extreme Warrior, the regions first 20km obstacle course," Managing Director for Desert Warrior Challenge, Troy Gillham says. "The whole idea behind DWC is to not only provide a platform for the community to enjoy an engaging and fun form of exercise, but to also challenge them to be the better version of themselves.
"We want our Warriors to band together and motivate each other to get fitter, live healthier and be part of what we like to call #thewarriormovement."
Extreme Warrior is the only competitive race and there will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male, female and team. There will be additionally be something for locals in the form of prizes for the fastest male and female Emirati participant.
As the event gets more popular, the Desert Warrior Challenge is ready to expand across the region, with races planned for Ajman, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in late 2016 and early 2017. Look out for the announcements and check out 2015's fun in the video below!
