Kettlebells may look weird and can seem intimidating when you're at the gym, especially if you're new to fitness. But there are so many benefits to using this strange-looking tool. Jericho McMatthews, Beachbody Super Trainer, told us why she's such a huge fan of kettlebells, and she just might convince you to pick up a pair.

"I get bored easily," Jericho told POPSUGAR. "I have fun putting together different combinations and I [also] like the grip on a kettlebell. I like the fact that the weight is offset — you can do exercises with kettlebells that you can't necessarily do with dumbbells."

Not only are kettlebells more fun and offer a wider variety of movements, but they also give you the tools to be stronger in your everyday life. "They are offset, which is geared a little more toward functional training," Jericho explained. "Because when we pick things up in life and put them down, they're not always evenly weighted." Besides, because you can string together multiple movements in a row with a kettlebell, you can fit in a lot more work, so you'll end up burning more calories.

Jericho recommends trying some basic exercises with kettlebells, like squats, lunges, and deadlifts. From there, you can try incorporating the tool into more intermediate or advanced exercises.
