The Olympics in 2010 were the last time that ice dancers were required to perform a "compulsory" program, in which every team skated the exact same steps to the exact same music, modeled on a ballroom/Latin style. In 2010, the required style was the "Tango Romantica," and as you might imagine, Tessa and Scott more than excelled at delivering on the intensity.

A passionate, intense program embodying one of the most famous romances in Western fiction, their entire program was so filled with fiery intensity that it left plenty of viewers a little flustered in the best way and was a harbinger of programs to come.

"Carmen" and "Moulin Rouge" may be more overtly sexy, Mahler and "Funny Face" may be more classically romantic, but when it comes to raw intimacy on the ice, nothing can top Tessa and Scott's gala program to "Stay" at the 2014 Olympics, where they won silver. It's achingly sensual and so intimate that you almost feel like you're intruding by watching — not that anyone could look away.

After two years away from competitive ice, Tessa and Scott made their triumphant return in the 2016-2017 season, going undefeated all season long. A little older and wiser than the last time they competed, they leaned into that mature, adult connection with a free dance to "Latch." But some things, like Scott's apparent fondness for Tessa's neck, never change!

Perhaps this was inevitable, giving the glut of Moulin Rouge programs these days and how its dramatic romance is so in tune with Tessa and Scott's style. But their music selection highlights all their strengths while setting them apart from the pack: the "Tango de Roxanne" section is so intensely passionate that one of the lifts had to be changed to be less overtly sexy, and "Come What May" brings it home with their signature sweeping romance.
