Dubai Police Now Have An All-Female Squad in Souks

Why All-Female Police Squads Have Just Been Rolled Out in Dubai

Hot on the heels of Sheikh Mohammed appointing a cabinet of #GirlBosses in the UAE, Dubai now has another set of ladies in power to look up to.

The next time you take a browse around the city's markets, you may notice the presence of a few more policewomen.

In fact an all-female team have been placed in the souks around town, keeping an eye on the shopping locations during the daytime when most women visit the market.

Most of these officers will be policing the Bur Dubai and Deira souks to help reduce theft and fraud numbers in the popular retail areas.

It's thought having the all-female Dubai Police force will help prevent potentially embarrassing situations when it comes to suspicious characters being searched.

The specially selected team have plenty of experience with guarding VIPs and have been trained extensively to deal particularly with certain scenarios that could come up in their new roles.

Possessing good knowledge of both English and Arabic, they will also regularly attend workshops to develop skills.
