Kuwaiti TV Host Suspended For Calling Co-Host "Handsome"

This Kuwaiti TV Host Got Suspended For Complimenting Her Co-Host in a Totally Harmless Way

A TV presenter on a state channel in Kuwait has been suspended for calling her co-host "handsome," Al Qabas reports.

Pretty harmless … Some would even think it's sweet. But for government officials it wasn't okay. The woman had just finished announcing the winners of the Municipal Council elections, when she turned to speak to a fellow colleague in another studio via a big screen and realized he was unaware that they were on air.

While he was still fiddling with his traditional male head scarf she cracked a quick joke saying, "Nawaf, no need to adjust your ghotra, you're already handsome. We are on air." And then went straight back to reporting.

Kuwaiti parliamentarian, Mohammad Al Hayef sent out a public Tweet to the Gulf State's Minister of Information, Mohammad Al Jaberi, asking him to take action against the TV presenter. As a result, she has been suspended, although insiders at the ministry of information believe its temporary and that many within the government believe she just misspoke.
Others on Twitter feel the same.

Maher Al Baghly, @maherkw66 said: "It's obvious she was trying to alert him that he was on air."

@bozhraa says: You left the problems with house, you left the problems with corruption, you left the problems with waste of public spending, you left the problems with health, you left the problems with education, you left the problems of rising costs and loans and the greed of traders that plague citizens. And you went ahead and cut the livelihood of a Kuwaiti

He doesn't beat around the bus, does he?
