Residency Visas are a necessary evil for life in the UAE, and waiting for yours to process can feel like forever.
So many details for starting your life in the UAE depend on establishing residency--you can't set up a du or Etisalat account, can't open a bank account, and can't even rent an apartment until the residency visa is affixed in your passport, and so processing time makes all the difference.
Residency visas can notoriously take weeks to be complete, but thanks to new measures announced by the ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Health and Prevention, and Human Resources and Emiratisation and Emirates Identity Authority, residency visas may take 50 percent less time to process.
According to the Khaleej Times, "the move is part of the world's first government accelerators, a new government approach that will accelerate the achievement of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021."
Effective immediately, residency visas for those in the private sector will now use a more streamlined process, cutting down the time it takes to establish residency.
One more way the UAE is becoming more efficient and progressive than ever!
