What to Do If You Lose Something in An Uber
Hey Middle East, These Are Some of the Weirdest Items You Leave Behind in Ubers
You probably won't be surprised at some of the things people leave behind in cars, a mobile phone or wallet is something we've all panicked about at least once, but those items aren't number one on the list of things we forget in the Middle East.
Hats are our biggest downfall according to a Lost and Found list the ridesharing company has released. While rings and glasses are also in the top five, some of the strangest things on the list include paintings, lobster and Hot Cheetos (well, we've all be there with the latter, right?).
Cairo, Jeddah, Dubai and Riyadh are the Middle Eastern cities that would probably forget their heads if they weren't screwed on and on a global scale Uber reports that weekends are the worst, with forgetful days ranking in this order: Sunday, Saturday, Friday, Monday, Thursday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
December wasn't a good month to be clear-headed it seems, as the 4th, 11th and 18th of that month all featured in the top five forgetful days, alongside October 30 and November 20.
"On Sundays, we see the biggest spike in lost wedding dresses. On Mondays, we see the biggest spike in lost skateboards. On Tuesdays, we see the biggest spike in lost swimsuits. On Wednesdays, we see the biggest spike in lost notebooks. On Thursdays, we see the biggest spike in lost suitcases. On Fridays, we see the biggest spike in lost briefcases. On Saturdays, we see the biggest spike in lost plane tickets," the company reports.
Here's what to do if you lose something in an Uber (it's bound to happen, apparently!). And check out the full details of the new report, below:
How to report a lost item
- Tap "Your Trips" and select the trip where you left something
- Tap "I lost an item"
Tap "Contact my driver about a lost item" - Scroll down and enter the phone number you would like to be contacted at.
- Tap submit.
If you lost your personal phone, enter a friend's phone number instead. - Your phone will ring and connect you directly with your driver's mobile number.
- If your driver picks up and confirms that your item has been found, coordinate a mutually convenient time and place to meet for its return to you.
- If your driver doesn't pick up, leave a detailed voicemail describing your item and the best way to contact you
