This Dubai Beachfront Turned Into a 3D Art Exhibition For 1 Week Only

If you happen to be at La Mer Dubai this week, you can be forgiven for thinking that you're at a miniature version of the MURAL Festival in Montreal Canada – or any other legit street art festival.
As part of Dubai Canvas, an annual art festival in its fourth year, the beachfront district was given a 3D facelift as artists from all over the world descended upon the venue to create one-of-a-kind optical illusions – or what we regular folk would call pretty awesome artworks.
Taking place between March 1-7, artists have been drawing in decent crowds as people flock to see their work, live performances, movie screenings, and a host of kids' and adult workshops being hosted throughout the day. Some of the memorable kiddie ones includes; "Create your own cartoon character" with Aysha Al Hemrani, and Mr. Doodle. Adult events are also pretty cool. An 'Introduction to street art and spray painting' workshop, a 'Calligraffiti' interactive session, and a 'Conversations with Installation Artist' talk was some of the highlights.
Every evening the event ended with a number of noteworthy international DJs playing live sets.
This year five permanent 3D murals were created during the festival, turning La Mer into a real street art destination. As well as the permanent murals, more than 30 local and international artists came together to create temporary pieces using the public spaces at La Mer as a canvas.
