Construction on Bluewaters Island, home of what will be the world's largest observation wheel, is well underway, and from the looks of it, we may be enjoying the island's resorts and amenities sooner than we think.
The observation wheel, called Ain Dubai, is almost completed, with the last rung set to be installed shortly. New photos of the island show that hotels are also close to completion. When finished, the island will have 150 retail and dining options, 10 residential buildings with 698 apartments and 17 townhouses.
Ain Dubai is set to open at the beginning of 2018, with the retail and residential facilities opening shortly after, within the first quarter of the year.
Located off the coast of Jumeirah Beach Residence, there will a pedestrian bridge connecting Bluewaters Island to the shore, as well as a "purpose built bridge connects the island with Sheikh Zayed Road, while automated vehicles will transport passengers to Bluewaters from Dubai Metro's Nakheel Harbour and Towers station," the island's official website reports.
We still have a few more months until we can enjoy Dubai's latest neighborhood-- and we'll anxiously be tracking the progress!
