Last year, a 7-year-old girl began Tweeting from Aleppo. Bana Alabed's following grew quickly, and people all over the world waited anxiously for her Tweets, often not knowing if she was dead or alive.
In December, there was a collective sigh of relief when we learned that Bana and her family had safely escaped Syria and had settled in Turkey. Over the past few months, Bana and her mother (who managers her daughter's Twitter account) have been working on a book, Dear World, which was released by Simon & Schuster this month.
To celebrate the release of her book, Bana and her mother took a trip to New York, where Bana not only toured the Big Apple, but also got to meet with football player Colin Kaepernick, visit a school, and take photos at Twitter's US headquarters.
