Car Companies Celebrate Saudi Women Driving

Volkswagen Middle East is Celebrating Saudi Women, and They're Not the Only Car Company Weighing in

Earlier this week, in a landmark decision that had people around the world celebrating, Saudi Arabia's King Salman issued a royal decree that will allow women to drive in Saudi Arabia beginning in June 2018.

Tweets poured in with people lauding the Kingdom for the ruling, and the region has been buzzing with the news all week.

The celebrations would not be complete if car brands didn't chime in, and we particularly like how Volkswagen ME congratulated Saudi for the big step.

An image posted to the brand's Instagram page shows a woman's hands covered in henna and gripping the steering wheel. The text succinctly reads, "my turn."

Chevrolet Arabia also added to the conversation with a post showing the silhouette of a woman's head. The text on the image is written in Arabic, and says congratulations to Saudi women.

Even BMW weighed in with a photo that showed his and hers parking spots, with the words "Reserve your spots ladies, June 2018 is just around the corner.

Over the next few months there's sure to be more news to come out of KSA over the major change!
