Drew Barrymore's Favorite Books
Drew Barrymore Shared the 1 Book That Will Change Your Life
Drew Barrymore is a renaissance woman. Her list of accomplishments is basically neverending, including actress, producer, winemaker, makeup line owner . . . and that's just the tip of the iceberg. We're adding one more title to her list today — book spirit guide.
When POPSUGAR sat down with the actress to talk about life, love, and rosé, Drew also dropped some amazing book recommendations. Here's what she said when we asked the star what everyone should have on their reading bucket list:
"I think I would suggest authors that I thought really affected me, but I don't pose myself as a knowledgeable, literary list person. For me, it was Didion, Fante, Bukowski, Kurt Vonnegut . . . And then I would say some classics too like The Fountainhead or To Kill a Mockingbird or Pride and Prejudice. Books that make you know why they're such great classics. Oh, and The Giving Tree. Read it, and your whole life will change."
Drew also recalled a memorable reading experience she had while on a train. We're having some serious literary envy.
"I remember I read House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende on a train by myself for three days, and that was a beautiful experience. People can't dictate that to you. You're just going to have to keep sifting through all the books and at one point, one day, one book will connect with you where you're at in your life. Geographically speaking, where you are in your life. So no one can suggestion those things to you. They're more of a serendipitous read at the right time."
We couldn't agree more. Do you love Drew's favorite authors and books? We totally appreciate her fondness for the classics. It's time to crack some of these novels open for Summer reading!
