How did you make your day memorable and enjoyable for your guests? From the minute we started planning, we kept focused on how we wanted the overall day to feel, which was fun and relaxed for both ourselves and our guests. I didn't want our wedding to be stuffy or contrived, I wanted simplicity and sincerity. We chose a location that had stunning views and lucked out with amazing weather, so guests got plenty of personal photo ops and lots to look at from the minute they arrived. Good food, plentiful drinks, and fun music went a long way in having happy guests and a great party! I think they also enjoyed little touches like lavender water before the ceremony and the late night cookie snack. In college, one of our favorite things in the dorms were the late night cookies, so we loved that it was a subtle nod to where we met.
How did you incorporate personal touches in your wedding? I just went with my favorite things, gathered ideas from blogs or Pinterest, and stuck with my gut. Green is my favorite color, so the wedding was full of different shades of the hue, the location of our wedding had an amazing view of the ocean, in a location that meant a lot to us. I found a coffee table book with pictures of the ocean and waves, and had guests sign the pages so our "guest book" is now out on a table in our apartment, not hiding away on a shelf. One of my very favorite details from the day was our wedding cake topper. I had it made from a seller on Etsy, who used pictures of us, my dress, descriptions of my bouquet, and pictures my husband's suit, to create a little mini "us" out of paper. It's now sitting under a glass bell jar on my book shelf! My mom is an artist so she designed all of the paper, save the dates, invitations, menus, and seating chart and I loved that her work was part of the day since she helped so much with planning.
What was your most memorable moment of the wedding? There are too many special moments from the day to pick just one! First, waiting inside to walk down the aisle, I peeked out and saw my groom standing there and that's when it all really hit me. I had been so nervous all day up until that point and after that moment I was just beyond excited to get the wedding started! Of course saying our vows was something I'll never forget. There was also a moment during our reception that we had just sat down to eat after the first dance. The sun was setting, all of our guests and family were talking and laughing, one of my favorite songs was playing, my new husband was by my side and it just felt perfect. It had all come together and was exactly what I had envisioned for our wedding day!
