20 Reasons to Love The UAE in April

With the last of the cooler days upon us, there are only a few more weeks left to enjoy outdoor events. While some of our favorite winter staples are ending for the season, there's a whole crop of new activities and events to enjoy this in the UAE this April!

1. Tom Jones Live at the du Forum

Welsh singer and world-reknowned performer Tom Jones first played in Abu Dhabi in 2013, and he's back this month with both classic hits and new numbers.

2. Bubble Run

If you're looking to get in a race before the weather becomes too warm, but you find traditional 5K races to lack an element of excitement, then the Bubble Run is the perfect springtime activity for you. Participants of all ages wear white t-shirts, and every 3-5 minutes machines spray runners with colored foam.

3. Lisa Leone Photography Exhibit

New York-based photographer has famously captured hip hop artists such as Snoop Dogg, Brandy, and Queen Latifah, and now her work is on display in Dubai. The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will remain open through April 5.

4. Rudimental & Disclosure Live

Two of the UK's biggest EDM groups will perform live at the Dubai Media City Ampitheatre at the end of the month, along side other acts to be announced in early April. The Electronic Music event will likely be the last to be held at the Media City Ampitheatre before the summer.

5. Kids Film Fridays at Yas Marina

Every Friday evening through the end of April, a free family-friendly movie will play at the Yas Marina Promendae. With 7 restaurants in the marina, you can grab a bite before or after the film!

6. Splash

Yas Marina's annual water-themed event is back on April 8, and there are activities for every type of adventurer. Whether you've been dying to try Standup Paddleboarding, Fly boarding, or just want to sail around the marina, you can get your fill of water sports from noon to 6pm at the Marina!

7. Talise Sandstorm

Dubai's most difficult obstacle course, the Standstom event, returns for the 7th time, and this year, will be hosted by Talise Fitness. Held against the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab, Madinat Jumeirah, and the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the race is a 4km sprint course with a number of challenging obstacles.

8. Kevin Hart

Comedian Kevin Hart will hold his first show in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi on April 1 (and no, this is not an April Fools joke). The performance is set to be one of the last on his What Now? world tour, which has been ongoing for nearly 18 months.

9. Ripe Food & Craft Market

Though Ripe Food & Craft Market has been a Friday staple at Zabeel Park all winter, the time for outdoor activities is soon coming to an end, and Ripe Market will soon close for the season. From 9-3pm each Friday through the end of April, head to the Market to check out over 100 of Dubai's local businesses and artisans while you still can!

10. Autism Rocks

Tyga and Flo Rida are coming to Dubai to headline the Autism Rocks concert, and the event is sure to entertain and raise awareness for Autism along the way. No word on weather Tyga's girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, will tag along for the trip, but whether or not Kylie comes to town, this is sure to be a fun event for a great cause

11. WWE Live Dune Bash

WWE superstars are coming to the Middle East for a two-night long extravaganza. Expect all the usual thrills of a WWE showdown at this event, to be held at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium.

12. Picasso and Miro, Passion and Poetry

267 pieces are on display at the Burj Khalifa's newest exhibit, Picasso and Miro, Passion and Poetry. Held in the annex of the tallest building in the world, the works are on display in chronological order, making this exhibit easy to navigate for all.

13. The Sound of Music Live

As part of a new crop of musical that arrived in Dubai this year, everyone's favorite singing family is coming to the theater at Madinat Jumeirah this month, and you'll want to be sure to catch them before they say so long, farewell to the Middle East

14. Fashion Forward

Held bi-annually at Hai d3, Fashion Forward returns once again to showcase the best of fashion in the Middle East. With talks, presentation, and shows, Fashion Forward remains the premiere fashion event in the region.

15. Avicii Live

Kevin Hart isn't the only big-name coming to the UAE on April 1! Avicii will also be in the region at the beginning of the month, DJing a show at the Dubai World Trade Center.

16. Middle East Film and Comic Con

The Middle East Film and Comic Con bills itself as the largest pop culture festival in the region, and with a number of workshops and competitions (including a cosplay competition) it's the best place for comic fans to meet the best in the business.

17. World Art Dubai

Art talks and creative workshops are the highlight of this four-day-long art extravaganza, and there's something for every type of artist (even the littlest ones). With both children and adult programs that run throughout the event, there are ways to learn about everything from the art of a leaf to the keys to perfect shading.

18. Disney Live! Mickey's Music Festival

Mickey and the gang are coming to the Middle East! In this live performance, characters from all our favorite Disney films will be singing alongside Mickey, performing hits from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and more.

19. Piknic Electronik Dubai Featuring Michael Mayer

This bi-weekly electronic music event has been ongoing throughout the winter, but with warmer weather looming, Piknic Electronik will hold its farewell concert on the first weekend in April. Michael Mayer will be headlining the show, which is sure to be fun for kids and adults alike.

20. Global Legend Series

Some of the greatest legends in football are coming to Dubai as part of the Global Legend Series, and though the venue has yet to be announced, this event is slated to be the premiere football event in the region.
