On Tuesday, in an historic ruling, King Salman of Saudi Arabia issued a royal decree allowing women to drive in the country for the first time.
According to the decree, which was read live on state television, the change will not take effect until June 2018, and already people around the world are congratulating the Kingdom on this major step.
The degree, which was read aloud by a government official and signed by King Salman, said that the government would issue driving licenses "to men and women alike," and women would not need permission from their guardians in order to obtain them.
