"On 15 October 2016, Rawan 12, and Bayan (in pink), 10, are sisters and Syrian refugees from Homs. The two attend a Makani learning centre in Amman, Jordan. The centre is supported by UNICEF through the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syria Refugee Crisis. Here the children and youth are able to learn and receive counseling for the horrific events they have witnessed in Syria. Rawan was out of school for two years. She is now just back in school and the Makani centre has helped her keep up with her learning. "I remember Syria," said Bayan. "I remember my house. We had a lot of relatives and I remember the swing we had in the house." Bayan said she loves coming to the centre. She wants to be a lawyer. "I want to defend the rights of people." The girls are hoping to one day return to Syria. "We want to go back to Homs," said Bayan."
