6-Year-Old Sophie Cruz's Women's March on Washington Speech

A 6-Year-Old Girl Gave the Most Inspiring Speech at the Women's March on Washington

Sophie Cruz may be just 6 years old, but she is already an immigrant activist who is wise beyond her years (and in our honest opinion, ready to run for President). At the Women's March in Washington D.C., Sophie, winner of the Define American Award for Activist of the Year, took the stage in front of hundreds of thousands of people to make a short and emotional speech with her family — her undocumented parents and citizen sister — by her side.

The speech, which she gave first in English and then in Spanish, proves that you don't need to be an adult to understand the current state of our nation — and it's giving us so much hope for the future.

"We are here together making a chain of love to protect our families. Let us fight with love, faith, and courage so that our families will not be destroyed. I also want to tell the children not to be afraid because we are not alone. There are still many people that have their hearts filled with love . . . let's keep together and fight for the rights. God is with us."

This remarkable speech wasn't little Sophie's first rodeo when it comes to making political statements. In 2015, the then 5-year-old made her way through secret service to the Pope during his tour around D.C. She was able to hug Pope Francis and hand him a letter, a drawing, and a t-shirt that read, "Papa Rescate DAPA (Pope, Rescue DAPA)," which stands for the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents. She's since met with President Obama, and spoke at the Supreme Court.

It appears that this young lady has a bright future ahead of her. Sophie Cruz 2036, amiright?
