Can't wait for prom with this sweet gal 🎈😁 pic.twitter.com/z3Lc66YRW3— Shaedon Wedel (@shardonwedel) March 17, 2017
For as long as Shaedon Wedel has known Carlie, the young girl has had a love of Doritos. So Shaedon, who is best friends with Carlie's brother, decided to ask the high school senior to prom using her favorite food as inspiration for the grand gesture.
In a viral video and photos that warmed hearts across the internet, the 15-year-old showed up at Carlie's house with the "cheesiest" plan. With a rose in one hand and a bag of Doritos in the other, Shaedon came dressed in a shirt that said on the front, "I know I'm NACHO typical Dorito, but . . . " and on the back, "I'm going to be CHEESY and ask: will you go to prom with me?"
Carlie, who has Down syndrome, was thrilled with this surprise and wasn't afraid to tell Shaedon just how much she loves him. "I didn't do it for the publicity and stuff, I did it to make her happy. She deserves a lot," Shaedon said. "Knowing her for seven years now, she's brought nothing but joy to my life. Anyone who's ever around her, she makes them laugh, she always has a smile on her face. She's amazing."
Shaedon posted on Twitter that he can't wait for Newton High School's prom on April 22 with "this sweet gal" and we couldn't be more excited for them!
These Two Are ADORABLE!
Shaedon asked Carlie to prom in an especially cheesy way; featuring a Doritos ensemble. But it's his heart and their friendship exploding hearts around the world. Carlie is a beautiful girl who is the little sister of Shaedon's best friend; she also has down syndrome. Shaedon noted, "Knowing her for seven years now, she's brought nothing but joy to my life. Anyone who's ever around her, she makes them laugh, she always has a smile on her face. She's amazing," Shaedon's shirt reads: "I know I'm NACHO typical Dorito, but..." Back: "...
