Sheikh Hamdan Instagram Followers Name Pony
Sheikh Hamdan Asked His Instagram Followers to Name His New Pony and the Result Was Too Cute!
The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum proved to the world, once again, that he's no ordinary prince.
The royal (whose nickname, Fazza, has been adopted by everyone in the UAE) is best known for his daredevil antics and sportsmanship, as well as his active social media presence (6.2 million people have watched him sky dive, horse ride and zip line, among many other things).
In his recent posts, he asked his followers to name his pony, the final contenders on Instagram Stories being either "Joy" or "Amigo". In a second post, the name of the animal was revealed.
The first image was posted two days ago and was a video made up of a series of clips of the super cute pony running in a garden. He captioned it: "A joyful pony, full of life is looking for a name. What should we call him?"
On Saturday, a picture revealed his new moniker: "Sometimes you just need a little bit of "Joy" 😁 جوي عليكم يسلّم (In Arabic, "Joy says hello")."
This is not the first time the Dubai Prince has reached out to his followers – or responded to them. Almost three months ago, on December 21, Sheikh Hamdan accepted an invitation that he received on social media from Habiba Bin Thaleth, an Emirati employee who is a cultural advisor at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai. She said her dream was to have him over for lunch and his response? "Done," as reported by Gulf News.
One video was then posted on the Crown Prince's account showing him and a bunch of other men sitting down and having lunch at Habiba's house, with a second video of him posing with Habiba at the head of the table.
Having an accessible future Ruler who regularly shares slices of his personal life, is very progressive and very, very cool. The fact that he's easy on the eyes helps too. Swoon!
