Will it Snow in the UAE?

It Might Snow in The UAE This Weekend

We all know that it cools down a bit in December and January in the UAE, but beginning tonight, temperatures might hit record lows.

A cold air mass is set to hit the country Thursday night, and a local forecaster explained the weather phenomenon to Gulf News: "The temperature may fall below zero degree over high mountains, specifically Jebel Jais because it's over 1,900 metres and could even fall below 0°C. If there is any precipitation in the area when the temperatures drop to 0°C or even 1°C to 2°C, there is a chance of snow."

Snow in Jebel Jais? It's possible. The region first saw snowfall in 2004, and again in 2012, but snow this year is particularly surprising as 2016 was the world's hottest year on record.

We all know that it cools down a bit in December and January in the UAE, but beginning tonight, temperatures might hit record lows.

In Dubai, we'll see a high of 16°C, with temperatures raising slightly to 19°C on Saturday. Even so, this is significantly cooler than the 22°C and 23°C days we're used to this time of year.

In short, skip the beach this weekend, and bundle up!
