With its sleek design, revamped camera and improved battery life, it's easy to see why people want to snap up the iPhone 7 asap. But one guy went the extra mile (or a several hundred) to be one the first person in the region to buy Apple's latest product.
Traveling to Dubai's Mall of the Emirates from Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Al Hajri, lined up on Level 2 at the shopping center from 7pm on Friday to be there when doors first opened at 8am on Saturday. It meant he was able to buy the latest releases at the same time as places such as the US and UK, for the first time.
"I slept at the mall. I like Apple and wanted to buy a 5.5–inch iPhone 7 Plus space gray, but had to sacrifice it for the 4.7–inch space grey (256GB). I am taking two phones," he told Gulf News.
Hundreds of people could be seen waiting outside the Apple Store which opened simultaneously with the Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi branch last October. It was the first time the Middle East got Apple Stores.
Meanwhile, Ranjit Jose from was the first person in the UAE to get a a hold of the new phone and Apple Watch Series 2 via pre-order. The phones sold out over the weekend but restocks are coming according to staff at the Mall of the Emirates store.
